Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 October 2026

Visions of Hope Travels Africa (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect through this website and our services, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the rights you have. We aim to comply with the data protection laws that apply to us, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and, where applicable, the data protection laws of Cameroon and of the countries where our partners are based.

1. Who is responsible for your data

Visions of Hope Travels Africa is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. Contact details are at the end of this policy.

2. Data we collect

  • Contact and identity details: name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, country of residence, nationality and date of birth (where you provide them).
  • Professional and academic information: CV, qualifications, work experience, languages, certificates, transcripts, references and similar documents you upload.
  • Study preferences: preferred destinations, courses, intakes and approximate budget.
  • Employer and partner information: company name, contact person, business contact details and job requirements.
  • Account data: login details and the history of your applications, enquiries and messages.
  • Technical data: IP address (recorded with form submissions for security), and anonymous page view counts. If Google Analytics is enabled, it may collect information described in our Cookie Policy.

3. How we use your data

  • To respond to your enquiries and provide the services you request.
  • To match candidates and students with suitable opportunities, and to manage applications.
  • To share relevant information with a specific employer, recruiter or institution, only for an opportunity you have applied for or agreed to be considered for.
  • To send you service emails, such as confirmations and status updates.
  • To keep our website and records secure and to prevent fraud and spam.
  • To meet legal and regulatory obligations.

4. Legal bases

We process personal data on the basis of your consent (for example when you submit a form or create an account), to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, to perform a contract with you, to comply with legal obligations, and for our legitimate interests in operating a secure and effective service. You may withdraw consent at any time.

5. Sharing your data

We do not sell personal data. We share it only:

  • with an employer, recruitment partner or educational institution for a specific opportunity, with your knowledge;
  • with service providers who help us run our website and communications (such as hosting and email providers), under appropriate confidentiality terms;
  • where required by law or to protect rights and safety.

Employers and partners do not have automatic access to candidates’ personal documents.

6. International transfers

Because our work is international, your data may be transferred to employers, institutions or service providers in other countries. Where this happens we take reasonable steps to ensure your data is protected and transferred lawfully, and we only transfer what is necessary for the purpose.

7. How we protect your data

The website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Uploaded documents are stored in a private location that is not publicly accessible and can only be opened by you and authorised staff. Access to records is restricted by role. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will respond promptly to any incident.

8. How long we keep data

We keep personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. Enquiries that do not lead to an ongoing relationship are generally deleted after 24 months. Some records may be kept longer where the law requires.

9. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, restriction of or objection to processing, and a copy of your data in a portable format. You may also withdraw consent and lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority, such as the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. To exercise your rights, contact us using the details below.

10. Children

Our recruitment services are for adults. Students under 18 should use our study abroad services with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
